AUTO REFORM BILL SIGNED BY GOVERNOR McGREEVEY
IIANJ REPRESENTATIVES PARTICIPATE IN BILL SIGNING CEREMONY
The New Jersey Automobile Insurance Competition and Choice Act (S63/A2625) was signed yesterday by Governor McGreevey in a Ceremony at the State House in Trenton. IIANJ representatives were there to witness the signing of legislation that seeks to bring about more competition and choice for consumers.
As you know, IIANJ's volunteers and staff have worked continuously for the past 17 months with the NJ Coalition for Automobile Insurance Competition (CAIC) to develop the legislation, educate consumers and legislators, negotiate with the Department of Banking and Insurance and the Governor's Office and lobby for successful passage of this major automobile insurance legislation. We are proud that this legislation has now become law.
But our work is not done....IIANJ will continue to work closely with the Department of Banking and Insurance and the Coalition as regulations are developed to implement portions of this bill. IIANJ will also hold educational seminars for agency staff as the provisions are set so that your staff will understand the legislation including the transition provisions.
Most importantly, IIANJ is committed to seeing an increase in the number of independent agency companies doing business in New Jersey as well as an expansion of business for those companies who are already in this state. We are already meeting with companies to discuss how New Jersey will be the place to do business in the future for automobile insurance!
As we meet with companies, we want to provide them with Agency Profiles for those agencies who are seeking additional companies. We have developed an Agency Profile Form that can be completed by our members so companies will have information about those agencies most interested in securing additional markets. NOTE: Your information will be retained by IIANJ senior staff in a confidential manner (only companies requesting profiles will receive your information). No agents will view or have access to your individual data. You can obtain the profile as follows:
